Doctor Who Actor, Film Director and Composer
For over 17 years, Tim Reid has been a force in the Doctor Who universe — working in 30 episodes in front of the camera and as crew, transforming into some of its most unforgettable monsters.
From the commanding menace of the Daleks to the eerie Space Zombie, the mysterious Kasaavin, Monster Monks and even roles such as the sinister “Spoonhead” in The Bells of Saint John, Tim has given life to various creatures that continue to haunt and thrill audiences worldwide.
He can also be spotted as ‘himself’ showing his ‘human’ face in more recent Doctor Who episodes where he had a small acting role as Aide to the Evil Prime Minister in ‘73 Yards’ with Millie Gibson and Ncuti Gatwa.
His journey through Doctor Who has leapt beyond the screen. On the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular arena tour, Tim stalked the stage in full monster guises before thousands, and in 2024 returned to the Royal Albert Hall for the Doctor Who Proms, leading the charge as the Judoon Captain.
Tim’s monster legacy was sealed when his Space Zombie character was immortalised as an official Doctor Who figurine.
But Tim’s talents don’t stop with performance. Behind the scenes, he has shaped the Whoniverse itself, working with top agent ‘Phoenix Casting’ to bring monsters, supporting artistes, and acting roles to life across Doctor Who and major UK series and films including Sherlock, Poldark, Atlantis, Casualty, and Broadchurch. On screen, his career extends to standout roles in BBC’s Merlin (as Knight “Sir Tim”) and ITV’s Broadchurch, where he worked alongside David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker for all three seasons.
Beyond acting, Tim is an award-winning filmmaker and composer. His work has been recognised at film festivals worldwide, including taking home Best Director and Best Short Film at the 2022 Cannes World Film Festival.
Most recently in 2024 / 2025, Tim has worked as crew and crowd 2nd Assistant Director on shows such as Gavin and Stacey, The Guest and The Forsyte Saga with Millie Gibson.
From the shadows of the Daleks to the spotlight of Cannes, Tim Reid continues to prove himself a unique creator and artiste.
